Navigation
There are 3 main navigation areas within the site, the Global navigation,
which is located below the search box at the top of the page; the
main navigation located in the red bar below the global navigation
and the section navigation located on the left hand side of the
page.
Layout
Text is laid out using style sheets. Users can change the style
sheets in their browsers to make viewing easier for their individual
requirements. To do this first go to the Tools menu for Internet
Explorer. At the bottom of the Tools screen there is a Accessibility
button. Clicking this will bring up the accessibility dialogue where
you can turn off the styles of the webpage. Here you can also direct
Internet Explorer to use a style sheet of your choice. HTML used
is 4.01 transitional.
Text resizer
The Canada Life website incorporates Text Resizer functionality,
which can be found at the top of every page. You will see two links
with magnifying glasses beside them. The one on the left increases
the font size in the main content area and the one on the right
has the reverse effect.
Images
The Canada Life website uses alt tags on all images that have a
descriptive element. Where images are non-descriptive alt tags are
set to null.
