Bereavement Counselling
As a Group Life scheme member you will have access to bereavement counselling and probate helpline services. Access to the services is available to families in the event of the death of a member of the scheme, or the member themselves if they suffer a bereavement.
Features of the counselling service include:
- Unlimited access to a 24/7 telephone bereavement counselling helpline where callers are able to speak with qualified counsellors
- Practical advice and details of self help support groups and charities
- Up to four face-to-face sessions with a professionally trained bereavement counsellor at a convenient location chosen by the user
Probate Helpline
The probate helpline gives close relatives and dependants of the deceased member, or the member themselves if they suffer a bereavement, access to specialist legal advice on all aspects of obtaining probate and provides:
- Guidance on financial matters
- Advice on legal matters linked to bereavement Explanation of state benefits
- Information on social services
Access to the new probate helpline is free to users and unlimited, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The service provides information on:
- Family disputes
- Validity of wills
- Dealing with creditors
- Process of obtaining probate
