Losing someone close can be devastating - no one should go through it alone. Our Bereavement Support service provides access to a 24/7 helpline and counselling provided by qualified mental health professionals, and our probate helpline puts employees in touch with the experts who can give advice and financial guidance.
Losing someone close can be devastating – no one should go through it alone. Grief is a deeply personal and natural response to loss. Feeling numb, sad, or overwhelmed is normal and the support from family, friends or peers often helps early on as employees begin to adjust and heal.
Immediate counselling may not always be appropriate, as the experience and progression of grief varies widely between individuals. For some, engaging in counselling may be more beneficial once the acute phase of shock diminishes, which may occur around six months post-loss or at a different timescale depending on the person.
Employees can call the bereavement helpline on 0800 912 0826. Lines are open Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm
Adults over the age of 18 can request counselling, based on clinical assessment and where suitable for the individual
Counselling sessions will be arranged with a qualified mental health professional
