Registering for secure emails

How to register for Proofpoint SecureMail

Secure emails switch from Origo to Proofpoint

We have changed how we receive and send secure 'encrypted' emails. Email encryption involves protecting personal or sensitive information from being read by anyone other than the intended recipient. This can range from a client’s home address to their medical or financial details.

Previously we received and sent encrypted emails via Origo Unipass Securemail and now use Proofpoint SecureMail to send and receive this type of email.

Who is Proofpoint?

Using the Proofpoint email encryption service will continue to protect sensitive and confidential information. Proofpoint is an established, global cybersecurity company protecting people, data, and brands from advanced threats and compliance risks.

As well as your desktop, the Proofpoint email service can be used via a wide range of mobile devices, enabling you to access your emails on the go.

If you have any questions regarding the switch from Origo to Proofpoint please contact us.

How to register and access your secure emails:

When Canada Life send you an email via the Proofpoint SecureMail portal, please follow these steps to register:

  1. Open the notification email and click the ‘Click to read message’ button. You will be re-directed to a secure Proofpoint portal.
  2. You will see the email address that the notification email was sent to.
  3. Fill in the registration form. During the registration process you will be sent a separate one-time validation code from quarantined.mail@gwle.com
  4. Click continue.
  5. You will then see your email.

You will then be able to receive, open and send encrypted emails.

None of your emails will be lost. If you are using a web-based email solution such as Gmail, encrypted emails are in your Gmail inbox. If you use Outlook to download your emails from Gmail, encrypted emails are in your Outlook inbox.
