Emma Watkins

CEO Canada Life UK

Emma became CEO of Canada Life UK in September 2025, taking the lead in driving the company’s strategy to invest for growth whilst simplifying and modernising its operations.

She joined Canada Life following a decade at Scottish Widows, where she most recently served as Managing Director, Retirement & Longstanding and was a member of the Executive Committee.  Prior to this, she was a Partner at Land Clarke & Peacock LLP and held a number of senior roles within insurance businesses including MetLife Assurance Ltd and Ace European Group.

Emma believes passionately that the power of the collective is the foundation for a truly people-centric organisation that delivers great customer outcomes. 

She holds a degree in Microbiology from the University of Reading and is a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute and an ex-board member of the Pensions Administration Standards Association (PASA).

Clive Wellsteed

Partner and Head of De-Risking, LCP

Clive has headed up LCP’s award-winning pension risk transfer team since its inception in 2006.  Under his leadership, LCP’s team has grown to be a trusted and respected adviser to pension schemes of all sizes, advising on the full range of transactions from large multi-billion buy-ins to specialised services for smaller schemes. Clive has personally been involved in over 50 successful transactions covering £30bn+ of liabilities over the last 20 years, including for the pension plans of ICI, Pearson, Littlewoods, British Steel, Essity and Halliburton.

Shreyas Sridhar

Managing Director, BPA, Canada Life

Shreyas joined Canada Life in 2024 and has been instrumental in leading the growth of our BPA business in his role as Business Development Director. In April 2025, he was appointed to the position of Managing Director.

Shreyas is a highly experienced financial services executive. Prior to joining Canada Life, he spent eight years in roles within Legal & General’s pension risk transfer business, most recently as Head of Reinsurance & International Development. Shreyas has also previously worked as a structured finance and derivatives lawyer.

Lisa Purdy

Professional Trustee, Capital Cranfield

Lisa joined Capital Cranfield in 2025, following a 20-year career spanning actuarial, investment consulting, asset management and insurance. She brings an in-depth knowledge of pensions and investment, coupled with a focus on collaboration and communication.

Lisa previously worked at LGIM where she was Head of DB Solutions Distribution, responsible for over £300bn of AUM across the spectrum of investment strategies and levels of delegation, as well as client types including Defined Benefit, Defined Contribution and public sector clients. She supported many of these to clients to move to buyout as well as developing run-on strategies. Lisa is a qualified actuary and worked at Aon and Lloyds Banking Group, working with clients from £5m to £25bn in size; advising both trustees and corporates.

Across all Lisa’s roles, clear communication has been essential, and her approach is straightforward, pragmatic and collaborative. She has a strong strategic appreciation combined with a “get it done mentality” focused on delivering results.

Amrit McClean

Partner, Global Head of Pensions Derisking, Simmons & Simmons LLP

Amrit heads Simmons & Simmons’ Global Pensions De-risking offering and is the market leading advisor for UK bulk annuity/life insurers in the UK.

She has over 19 years’ experience in the pensions de-risking space working within the business teams of both Legal & General and Aviva as well as in private practice. She acts for all insurers in the UK pensions de-risking market.

Amrit has spear-headed the innovation and implementation of the Buyers’ Report – a new approach to tackling residual risks uncertainty prior to exclusivity.

Her commercial acumen and knack for innovation have earned her multiple awards, including the prestigious The Lawyer Hot 100 2022 and Law.com’s Top 25 Female Lawyers under 40 2021. She’s been named Innovative Leader in Private Practice 2022 by Law.com International and is among the Top 10 Non-Contentious Insurance Lawyers Shaping UK’s Industry in 2023 by Business Today.

James Mullins

Partner & Risk Transfer Specialist, Hymans Robertson

James is a partner and specialist in our risk transfer team, which he established in 2007.

James and the risk transfer team have led the advice on well over 100 buy-in, buy-out and longevity swap transactions ranging from £5m to £6bn in size, including 29 with FTSE 100 sponsoring employers.  These transactions have insured over £50bn of pension scheme liabilities.

Sonya Purkayastha

Head of Admin - TPA, BPA, Canada Life

With more than 25 years of pensions experience and Fellowship of the PMI, Sonya has built her career around improving the member experience in the pensions industry.

Her background spans all areas of pensions administration, with deep expertise across both the bulk annuity market and third party administration.

Sonya joined Canada Life in January 2026, bringing deep technical knowledge, a strong customer focused mindset and her passion to deliver exceptional member experience across the industry.

Tiziana Perrella

Professional Trustee, Dalriada Trustees

Tiziana is a professional trustee and qualified actuary with over 25 years’ experience of working exclusively with UK occupational pension schemes. She has specific expertise in risk settlement, including alternative endgame solutions.

Tiziana completed her first bulk annuity transaction in 1999 and in her career has worked on over 300 buy-ins and buy-outs, ranging in size from under £1m to £4bn. Prior to becoming a professional trustee Tiziana was part of the senior team within the Aon’s Risk Settlement Group, having joined from JLT where she headed the bulk annuities team for 9 years.

Jamil Merali

Associate Partner, Risk Settlement & Member Experience specialist, Aon

Jamil is an Associate Partner at Aon, who has spent a significant part of his career as an expert in Aon's Member Options & Support Team where he supported trustees and corporates in improving the options and support available to members.

He is now a senior member of Aon’s Risk Settlement Group advising on transactions of all sizes (£10M to £bn+) with a particular focus on improving the member experience as part of these transactions.

Malcom Reynolds

President UK and Portugal, Aptia Group 

Malcolm was UK Head of Pension Administration at Mercer where he led a team of over 2,500 employees across 21 locations in the UK and India, focusing on further enhancing client services and solutions to improve member outcomes.

Malcolm has over 30 years’ experience in the pension industry, including 17 years at JLT where he was Managing Director of the Pension Administration business and before that he was the Chair of the DC and Health businesses. Prior to JLT, Malcolm was a Director at PwC, responsible for leading its Pension Management Consultancy business across Europe, Middle East and Africa.
