Finn's story

Behind every pension is a person

Meet Finn

Finn lives in West London with his family. After working as a contractor for a few years, Finn wanted to feel part of a company and have the security of a benefits package. He’s been working at his company now for five years and enjoys the familiarity of being a permanent employee. Finn has a wife, Zara, and two children. His wife is a nurse and works long hours, often through the night. This means that they have to work as a team and pick up different responsibilities to support their family. He’s also trying to look after his physical health and tries to go to the gym two to three times a week. On the surface, he has everything under control.

This is what we don’t know about Finn

Finn is starting to feel the strain of trying to balance his work and family life. Zara is under a lot of pressure at the hospital and is working even harder, and Finn is taking on more responsibilities at home. His workload has also increased due to restructures in his team, and he can’t seem to switch his brain off, especially at night. Finn is starting to get tension headaches, which he thinks is because he’s not getting enough rest. He might be getting eight hours of sleep, but he still wakes up feeling exhausted. Finn knows he should make more of an effort with the day-to-day tasks at home, but he just doesn’t have the motivation. This makes him feel even more guilty. He feels like he’s failing at everything, and no matter how hard he tries, he can’t get back in control.

How we can support Finn

Mental health support through WeCare

Finn has access to WeCare, a wellbeing app that provides mental, physical and financial support. Through the app, Finn can call a 24/7 mental health helpline for in-the-moment help, at a time that works for him. The service is confidential and he can use the app from a tablet or phone, from the comfort of his own home.

Budgeting tips through Your Life Hub

Through Your Life Hub, Finn can find resources to help him regain control of his finances. Because he and his wife, Zara, are working so much, they might be shopping more for convenience and spending more money than they would like. By browsing the resources available, Finn can decide which tools will work best for him and his family.

One-on-one customer support

Finn is confident using OneView and often prefers to view his pension documents in his own time. However, lately he finds it easier to speak to someone over the phone, as he has been quite forgetful. It gives him the opportunity to ask follow-up questions and make notes. Finn can call us anytime he needs to and our customer service team will be more than happy to answer his questions.
