Join us as we discover the aspirations and challenges of people across the UK as they plan for later life, as well as for the here and now.
The global demographic shift is well underway, and our Life100+ research aims to explore how we can best approach and prepare for the longer years, ensuring that we’re set to make the most of our improved longevity. In the UK, for example, we can expect to see a 90% rise in the number of people reaching 80 and above by 20501. This will be more than 6.6 million people.
We conducted this in-depth Life100+ research to better understand the complexities that may arise. What we’ve uncovered is much more than a collection of stats. Instead, we’re gaining valuable insights into the aspirations and challenges of people across the UK as they plan for later life, as well as for the here and now.

We believe that our insights will not only benefit our customers and adviser partners, but they might help to shape how we think about living longer as a society. Our hope is that Life100+ will help to ensure that we're all making more of life.
Three core themes have emerged in our research: the power of conversation, the power of advice, and the power of those close to us.
We’ve found that each of these contributes to a greater sense of control – and by consequence, to higher levels of overall life satisfaction.
Quality conversations with those close to us, as well as with professional advisers, will be key to making the most of a longer life.
The demand for financial advice exists, but people often turn to family, the internet and well-known personalities rather than IFAs.
Our close family and friends are the foundation of much of the support needed through major life events and stages.
Discussions can spark action, and a conversation today could mean security for tomorrow. Read how Life100+ has inspired a young family to get their affairs in order and to write a will.
New research from Canada Life finds that the majority of UK adults (56%) who received an inheritance sum over the past five years did not discuss its value with the benefactor beforehand.
Almost one in five (19%) 18–34-year-olds have used, or plan to use, inheritance they’re expecting to buy a property.
We’re proud to present our first Life100+ report, Exploring longevity to build financially secure futures.
