Case study: Uckfield, East Sussex

At Canada Life, our flexible underwriting approach sets us apart from other providers. Our lending policy covers a wide range of properties, including Grade II* Listed homes, which we will consider on a case-by-case basis.*

Mohammed and Janice have resided in their idyllic countryside abode for many years. Having decided that they would like to gift some money to their grandchildren, they began the process of applying for equity release but had some trouble finding a lender that would accept a Grade II Listed property.

  • Located in a highly desirable village.
  • A property of substantial value.
  • Desirable property assets.
  • Private water supply & septic tank.

Beyond the Numbers

Given that the property was in immaculate condition, Canada Life’s underwriting team accepted the property due to our flexible and pragmatic approach. The property benefitted from many advantages, such as being unique in character and having fantastic assets - such as an indoor swimming pool and sweeping hillside views.

Many Grade II Listed properties are large and located in sought after areas of the UK. Our underwriting team’s adaptive attitude allows us to approach these types of property queries with an open mind to offer the best assistance we can.

Following our review, our team were able to make an offer to Mohammed and Janice which was subsequently accepted.
