Canada Life UK, Irish Life and Canada Life Germany support Ukraine appeal

As a sign of solidarity with the people affected by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the companies of the Canada Life Group in Europe are coming together to pledge to match up to €250,000 of employee donations, which will go directly to support UNICEF’s humanitarian work on the ground, in Ukraine and the bordering countries.

In the UK, from April and for the remainder of 2022, the employee payroll giving schemes will also be set up in support of the Ukrainian appeal, and Canada Life UK will donate £4 each month for every colleague that contributes.

Canada Life has also confirmed that it has registered the residential properties at its’ Potters Bar office site under the Homes for Ukraine Scheme. These properties could potentially provide up to eight safe and comfortable homes for Ukrainian refugees.

Lindsey Rix, CEO, Canada Life UK commented:

“We continue to be deeply saddened by the ongoing war in Ukraine and our thoughts are with everyone affected by this crisis. As a company we felt compelled to come together with our other European businesses, so we can help in a small way to alleviate some of the suffering through charitable donation.”

These initiatives are in addition to the donation already made by Great-West Lifeco, announcing a contribution of $200,000 to the Red Cross Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal, and will shortly announce further support. The European businesses are also part of this contribution.
