Canada Life launches volunteering programme

  • The company has partnered with giving platform Neighbourly, who help to connect businesses with local charities and community groups
  • Each Canada Life colleague will have two days per year to use for volunteering

Following a successful pilot, Canada Life has officially launched a volunteering programme in partnership with giving platform Neighbourly.

All colleagues of Canada Life UK, approximately 1500 employees, will now have the opportunity to take up to two days per year as paid time off, to support charitable and local community causes.

Neighbourly helps businesses run volunteering programmes, making it as easy as possible for employees to get involved and make a positive impact in their local communities – whether it is donating their time, money, or surplus products to local good causes.

Nick Harding, Chief People Officer, Canada Life comments: “I am really pleased that Canada Life has chosen to partner with Neighbourly to launch our new volunteering programme.

“With over 1500 colleagues working across different locations in the UK, as well as in the Isle of Man and Dublin, it was important for us to work with an organisation that makes signing up to volunteer as easy as possible.

“We’re looking forward to giving back to the communities we live and work in – and with each colleague able to take up to two days per year as paid time off, we’re hopeful that we can make a significant impact.”

Steve Butterworth, CEO, Neighbourly comments: “We’re delighted to be working with Canada Life on their new volunteering programme. Neighbourly is helping to make it as easy as possible for Canada Life employees to participate in the opportunities available and to report back on the impact that the business is having.

“Neighbourly has a network of around 25,000 good causes, including small charities and community groups. They are doing invaluable work, usually with limited resources, so Canada Life’s volunteering effort is hugely valuable in supporting the community in many different ways.”
